i'd never seen tea plantations before i visited munnar, in fact when i stumbled onto one on my first day walking around it took waaaay too long for me to work out that the plants were tea. with that mystery solved the next one was: why does it look so magical? there was something about the bright colour and the rows that grip and bend around hills creating patchwork patterns that i found instantly captivating. the following day i went on an even longer trek which was even cooler, actually walking up close and through a much larger plantation. we hired out a tuk tuk on the third day, and this shot was from one of the many occasions when our driver obligingly stopped so i could take a photo from the side of the road. i feel like my initial reaction holds up - this place is magical.
