tomblands
when i went over to australia at the beginning of last year most of my time was spent drinking and catching up with friends. i did a small bit of travelling as well, i took a boat to an island full of smiling animals and i drove up the coast to here, the pinnacles desert. i was with two other friends, one who couldn’t drive and another who hadn’t driven in a long time, so i offered to do all of the driving. it was a 400km round trip which i though would be manageable, but i became so sleepy that i felt far safer with my less experienced friend driving part of the way back compared to me doing the full stint. it remains a source of amazement to me how people can drive long distances and still remain awake and alert, as i physically cannot last more than a few hours without an overwhelming feeling of drowsiness. apparently this feeling is caused by steady vibrations at low frequencies, which makes me think it would be awfully helpful if someone could figure out how to beds that imitate this sensation.
