do you think that someone paints your mirror?
when we approached land in the falkland islands, south georgia and the antarctic peninsula, we would disembark into zodiacs which usually held around ten passengers each. if we were going on a cruise, such as this one in cooper bay, then each group would follow the same kind of route around. although within that route we were encouraged to ask the driver to stop or change direction if something caught our eye. i was extremely fortunate that i was in the group that cruised past this rocky outcrop at the precise moment a macaroni penguin begen to waddle towards a little rock pool for a drink. i immediately asked our driver to stop as i tried to steady myself and zoom in by the time the penguin reached the water, it all lined up perfectly and i got one of my favourite shots of the entire trip.
i kept changing my mind on the crop for this image, switching between this version and a wider one with the other penguins in the background. i'm still not entirely sure which i prefer, so for balance here's an alternative crop
