in my last post i talked about how the beautiful nature in alishan made it my favourite place that i visited in taiwan. i arrived at that conclusion after spending the day walking amongst the huge trees and waking up to a heavenly sunrise, but it was cemented after i came across a troop of monkeys, which anyone who knows me will know is my favourite animal. i don't think i knew that there were even monkeys present in alishan, or if i did i'd certainly given up any hope of encountering them, so it was an almighty delight when i was taking some raindrop photos and i saw some movement in the trees. i edged as close as i could to this dude in the tree, who seemed like he was keeping lookout for the rest of his tribe. i then began to circle them to try and get a closer shot, but they kept eyeing me with suspicion and backing off if i got too close. i eventually found a suitable perimeter and watched them scamper around until we both retreated back to our comfortable habitats, the thick undergrowth for the macaques and a warm and dry hotel room for me
