after 3 weeks on koh pha ngan i was ready to change locations, and i took a boat to the next island due north called koh tao. all i really knew about koh tao was that it was a popular place to go scuba diving, and to be honest i can't think why i didn't choose to come here first. scuba diving is one of my favourite activities, and certainly one of my motivations for coming to thailand, so it seemed like such an obvious match. i slowly weaned myself off my sunset routine on this new island, partly because it took three times longer to walk to the beach, but also because the atmosphere felt different here. instead of the chilled out vibes of watching boats float past a kaleidoscopic sky, there were a lot more people here sunbathing, drinking or playing football and volleyball. so following on from brazil and india, here's the latest in my beach soccer series.
