this land is free
these are the beautiful vineyards of constantia, a wine region which is a short drive out of the centre of cape town. it's easy to get lost in the beauty of a panorama like this and forget about everything else. that wasn't the case for me though as in the morning i visited the district six museum in the centre of cape town. that museum tried to explain what it was like to be a part of south africa during apartheid... to sum it up it was absolutely fucking disgraceful. for example this golden landscape was zoned as a "white group area" in the 60s (yes the 1960s) and all non white people were forcibly removed and shoved into townships. so my wine was served with a large helping of european guilt.
