our still lives posed - extra image
i struggled for ages to get this photo into something i was happy with. i originally took it so the buildings and street were parallel to the top of the picture, thinking i could get more street in the frame, but the result just looked jarring and unnatural. it was a problem with a simple solution that for some reason it took me a long time to find, rotating so the vertical lines in the frame were perpendicular to the top makes so much more sense to the eye. and then converting it into black and white took the focus off the yellow cab and back onto the street. it seems so simple in hindsight.
