form some kind of code - extra image
this is a shot of the bat exodus which occurs in gunung mulu national park in borneo, when an insane number of bats depart their cave in search of food. they were swirling in amazing patterns in the sky, and i lay on my back transfixed by the display. it was among the first of many animals i saw in my time in malaysia, which also included monkeys and orangutans, as well as amazing underwater creatures when i went scuba diving. that was almost 3 years ago, and i was intending on heading back to south east asia this year before the coronavirus locked everything down. i'm pretty sure it will be my first long distance trip once the borders reopen.
