i'm not usually that much of a fan of overly hdr looking images. i usually think it works better when the colour is fairly desaturated or just subtlety to make the picture pop a bit more. however i also don't like to blindly stick to any set of rules without good reason - and personally speaking, i prefer this picture in its ramped up hdr state. unlike most of my hdrs, it's actually a 'proper' hdr, made up of four different exposures (1/1250, 1/500, 1/125 and 1/30) instead of one raw file. i took them on sunday when i took the bike up to the cow and calf on ilkley moor. in that post i mentioned i rode for 55 miles. the truth is more like 55.1 miles. and the reason that's important is because in the final 0.1 miles, i turned sharply and slowly while in my car park and the back wheel slipped and skidded on some damp moss. this resulted in the mirror you see in that previous post snapping clean off. i guess it's typical that i could ride incident free for hours, and then fuck up when i'm parking up.
