the night before last i saw pearl jam at the manchester evening news arena. i've been a fan ever since a friend introduced me to them when he gave me a cassette with state of love and trust on over ten years ago, however this was the first time i'd seen them live. they were over in the uk playing at leeds festival a few years ago, but before that hadn't played a significant gig (certainly up north) for about a decade. when i found out they were playing in manchester i went to get a ticket, but they only had seated left. now the men arena is a pretty shitty venue, but it's substantially worse when your sitting miles away from the stage, so a seated ticket wasn't too appealing. all this was justification in my head for going on ebay and paying twice the price for a standing ticket. no regrets, it was an awesome gig.
