if it feels like hope, it is

if it feels like hope, it is
if it feels like hope, it is... and if it feels like hope, it is... so if it feels like love, it is... love
in my last post i spoke about how i woke up at 2am in order to trek up to a lookout point to photograph the stars and sunrise. my plan was to go to bed really early so i wouldn't be too tired for such an early start, however things didn't go quite to plan. after spending the day walking around the scenic area i stopped into a 7-eleven to pick up some food for dinner. alishan was a fairly expensive part of taiwan and i'd learned that a good way to save money was to buy ready made food at the 7-eleven which they heat up for you in store. i got a rice based dish as well as some gyozas and walked back to my hotel to eat it in my room. in another cost saving measure i'd booked the cheapest hotel i could find, which was perfectly clean albeit with a pretty small room, so i sat on the bed to eat. i squirted the soy sauce sachet in the plastic tray and began dipping the gyozas when for some inexplicable reason i suddenly lurched back and promptly flipped the plastic tray upside down. this resulted in the soy sauce emptying out all over the white sheets, which was absolutely as messy as it sounds. i stripped the sheets and took them into the shower to scrub off the soy sauce and prevent it staining the sheets, which was successful although i now realised i had a new problem - my bed sheets were now soaking wet. so with the hours ticking closer to my 2am alarm call i sat on the side of my bed with a hairdryer in hand cursing my clumsiness.

this image was from my first sunrise up at xiaoliyuanshan lookout, and was just as magical in real life as it looks as a photograph. i've posted a few more shots on my instagram, and you can also see a short video which i took with my phone
