the whisper and the shout
i was standing on the cliffs above the harbour as storm francis sent wave after wave crashing into mullion cove in cornwall. as the waves smashed against the rocks, the strong winds would swirl the water up in the air in what was a really majestic display. after photographing it from a distance i was curious what it would be like to get closer, so i crossed to the other side and ended up exactly where the photographer in this shot is stood. i took a few pictures when another big wave came crashing at the rocks below and the wind picked the water up above me. for whatever reason i hadn't considered the obvious until that very moment, but all i could do when i realised my proximity was to turn my back to the wind as the water rushed towards me. i was fast enough to protect my camera, but every part of me that was facing the cliffs was now drenched in sea water and i felt my curiosity mercilessly unburdened.
