on my second day staying in the yurt camp in tulparkol i did a day trek up to traveller's pass. it's on route to peak lenin, which is a 7000m prize for the brave few who attempt it. this pass was around 4100m, which was plenty for me. as i began to summit i started chatting to an italian guy who was also staying in the camp. he was driving from italy to china, and had lots of stories about the countries he'd made it through so far. i recall that crossing the ukraine border was a particularly challenging experience. it's one thing i really enjoy about travelling to slightly unusual places, that you often meet different kinds of travellers with unexpected stories to tell.
