a couple of weeks ago my internet went down for about 5 days. it was frustrating and i felt really disconnected with what was happening in the outside world. as soon as it started working again i went to twitter to read that a commercial plane had just been shot out of the sky over ukraine and four kids had been been killed playing on a beach in gaza. since then more planes have gone down and a significantly higher number of children have been killed in gaza. turns out i was happier when i had disconnected ignorance instead of the horrifying realities of the world. one of the most heartbreaking things i read on gaza was this eyewitness account of a massacre in khuza'a. on saturday thousands of people came together for a peaceful protest in parliament square, london. as depressing and hopeless as the current news cycle is right now, there is something uplifting about seeing a huge group of people, from different cultures and backgrounds, unify and stand together in the name of peace.
