the shape that's in the mirror - extra image
the past week has reminded me of the time i spent last year in coro, venezuela. due to a combination of financial restrictions and stubbornness i ended up with very little money with which to buy food. i would drink lots of coffee for breakfast and lunch followed by unsubstantial meals for dinner and i savoured every little snack which i could find in my backpack. i think i made a bag of haribo last longer than any human before me in history. i was working on a website which would lead to a pay packet that i could put towards some real food, however my computer was being typically obstinate and constantly crashed at regular intervals. my dreams consisted of the different meals i would someday eat interspersed with different ways i'd execute my miscreant laptop - all as the kilogrammes rapidly fell away. now it's a different country, a different year, a different computer but a worryingly similar situation. a lack of money resulting in a poor diet and a misbehaving computer preventing me from working towards that money. the difference being that in the months preceding the current circumstance my diet was significantly more generous than my pre-venezuelan diet, so this time i don't look 'emaciated' so much as 'less fat'
