when i first heard the high pitched soundings of alberta cross, and then heard their name, i assumed that she was a talented american lady. it was quite some time after that i found out the lead singer was a bloke. and it was only upon chatting to the band at their gig last month that i learnt the lead singer was from sweden. how much more wrong could i have been? answer: none more wrong. still, it bugged me that they called themselves alberta cross, you know cos it's a girls name... and he's not a girl... and that fact made me look like a bit of a fool. so in an attempt to get to the bottom of this confusing moniker i confronted the band about it. i was passed from band member to band member, with the seemingly helpful "ask that guy" refrain before i arrived at the lead singer. he revealed "yeah i don't know why we're called that, i think god must have said it to me". there was quite clearly more than a hint of irony in his voice, perhaps because it's a question they get asked in every single interview, but fuck that, i want answers honeyo!
