testmeat photoblog

this post marks the fourth anniversary of my photoblog, how about that. it was back on the first of october in 2005 that i thought the internet lacked enough photos of felines (although it looked a little different back then) and i made my first blog post. actually it was just about five months after i received my first digital camera, a small, simple nikon coolpix. i enjoyed the simplicity of the point, shoot, have an instant look, repeat process. i was also inspired by a few other photoblogs - in particular ddoi. i think the first photoblog image that really made me think wow was his toronto skyline shot. i was working as a web designer at the time, and could already use photoshop for (what now seems like) basic image work, so thought it might be a fun little project having a go at a daily photoblog. as anyone who has a photoblog will know, the hardest part of it is the daily aspect of it. i never started with a huge archive of pictures i wanted to put up, i just liked the idea of taking a picture one day and publishing it the next, so i suppose unsurprisingly it wasn't long before my posts became less frequent. nevertheless after four years this is my 820th post, which on average is 205 a year or (a little more than) once every other day. that's not hugely impressive, but fuck it, i'm still going. incidentally today is also one of those rare dates where i've posted every year, so if you click the last year link in the menu you can go all the way back to post #1. anyways, here's to another year, if i continue at this rate i'll see you in 12 months with post number one thousand.
