this is part of a trail through the woods between my flat and town. i ended up walking home this way when i got the coach back from london on sunday night. no big deal usually, however it was half ten at night and there are no street lights along the path. as a result the only way i could see was with the aid of the light pollution in the sky - god bless living in a city. even that struggled to get through the dense trees overhead. it was a little bit unnerving not being able to see clearly where i was going, but at the same time kind of cool how you eyes manage to adapt to near total darkness. there were moments when it was so dark i thought i saw weird white shapes coming out from the distance... i don't think that's particularly normal... but despite that managed to make it to the other side without incident. i didn't stop and take this picture at the time, this was a few days earlier after i'd walked past the tv.
