set my spirit free
when i think of good examples of my travel photography, it's usually pictures of people and places which seem somewhat unique or special in that location. and animals of course, and i had the opportunity to capture a variety of these kinds of pictures when i spent three weeks in madagascar. on one of my first bus rides in the country the young girl in front of me stuck her hand out of the window, so i followed suit (a little trepidatiously) with my camera and snapped this shot. it's a pretty simple composition, a bus, an arm and an open road, but in my mind it also manages to capture a feeling i can't quite put into words. it became my favourite example of a pure 'travel photo'.
