a sandcastle far away from here
this was a cool discovery on my last day walking around in barcelona. it's an old bullring which was originally built at the end of the 19th century, and as well as bullfights it was also a music venue where the beatles played in 1966. the last bullfight was held in 1977 (incidentally bullfighting is now banned in catalonia) and after a few decades of slowly falling into disrepair it was handed over to the british architect richard rogers who transformed it into a shopping centre. they spent a lot of time and money preserving and restoring the original facade and i think the result looks stunning, as do the views from the rooftop terrace, good job dicky!
