one of the features that i particularly like on this website is when the last year link shows up in the main menu. it appears when i have posted a photo on the same date in the previous year and can offer an interesting juxtaposition of that point in my life. for example yesterday i was proud of being published in a norwegian travel magazine, whereas one year prior i was recovering from some bloody dentist surgery in colombia. the years preceding that event found me chewing coca leaves in bolivia, waiting to watch rage against the machine in london and watching the sunset in a shisha bar in egypt. however that's where the thread ends as despite the fact that i was also playing with fire in yorkshire and watching the foo fighters in hyde park on the same date - i didn't post anything on the 22nd of june in 2008. as i no longer even pretend to attempt posting a photo every day there's a high chance that you'll quickly arrive at a dead end with no last year link available - and that got me thinking - are there any dates on which i have posted a yearly photo without fail? i crunched some numbers, balanced some variables and queried some databases and the answer was a resounding yes. two. the first is the very date that i started this photoblog endeavour - the 1st of october - and the second date is today on the 23rd of june. test it out for yourself and you can travel from switzerland to england, via colombia and bolivia, back to the head banging days of 2006.
