this weekend, after a photographic hangover of sorts, i finally became inspired to start using my camera again. the contributing factors were an improvement in weather along with visiting two different exhibitions in the city. the first was the world photo awards at somerset house - a competition i had a minor flirtation with a couple of years back. i was particularly impressed with christian aslund's shots who won in the campaign category for a series of images made to look like a platform game. the second exhibition was at the natural history museum and an immense collection of black and white photos from sebastião salgado in a series called genesis. there were more than a few familiar sights in his south american section along with some some stunning images from antarctica, africa and siberia. if you're in london i'd strongly recommend you check them out.

i took this when i was walking home after the first exhibition visit. it's actually a composite of a few photos which i combined to erase most of the cars and add in a couple of the buses. here's one of the originals
